Who Is the Sentinel Resonator in Wuthering Waves?

Sentinels, also called Oracle Engines, stand as guardians and guides at the edge of Solaris-3's history — near-immortal beings created by the Homeland Civilization and delivered across space to watch over humanity through disasters like the Lament. But a Sentinel can't easily leave the region it's bound to, and it isn't built to walk among people the way a human does. That gap is where the Sentinel Resonator comes in.
What Is a Sentinel Resonator?
A Sentinel Resonator is a special human who shares a unique frequency bond with a Sentinel, acting as their chosen champion, messenger, and regional representative. Because a Sentinel is largely fixed to its assigned region, it relies on a human intermediary to act on its behalf — someone who can travel, speak, and make decisions where the Sentinel itself cannot.
To become one, a Resonator undergoes a secondary resonance awakening, inheriting a portion of their paired Sentinel's power and duties. This isn't a symbolic title — a Sentinel Resonator carries real, shared authority delegated from the Sentinel itself, and takes on responsibilities that would otherwise fall to the Sentinel alone.
There's a hard rule attached to this bond, too: a Sentinel can only resonate with one Resonator at a time. Breaking that law tears both the Sentinel's and the Resonator's frequencies apart, destroying them.
Sentinel Resonator vs. Sentinel: What's the Difference?
The two terms get mixed up easily, but they describe different things entirely.
Sentinels are the guardian deities — or, described more plainly, advanced constructs from Rover's original world, sent to guide and protect humanity on Solaris-3. They're ancient, bound to a region, and not fully human in nature. Jué, Hsin, and Imperator are all Sentinels.
Sentinel Resonators are the humans chosen by those Sentinels. They aren't Sentinels themselves — they're Resonators (people with resonance ability) who bonded with a Sentinel and inherited part of its power and mandate. A Sentinel Resonator acts as the Sentinel's voice, guard, or representative in places and situations the Sentinel can't personally handle.
In short: a Sentinel is the guardian itself, and a Sentinel Resonator is the human that guardian speaks and acts through.
The Three Sentinel Resonators in Wuthering Waves So Far
As of the current story, three characters have been confirmed as Sentinel Resonators: Jinhsi, Cartethyia, and Aemeath. Each is bonded to a different Sentinel, in a different region.
Jinhsi — Resonator of Jué

Jinhsi is the magistrate of Jinzhou, one of the provinces of Huanglong, and the current appointed Sentinel Resonator for Jué, the dragon Sentinel bound to that region. Through her bond with Jué, she inherits its "Temporal Mandate," and rules Jinzhou as its chosen magistrate in the Sentinel's place — a political role, not just a ceremonial one. She isn't the only person to have carried a connection to Jué, either: Jiyan and, before him, Geshu Lin both served as its appointed general, and Rover holds a separate bond to it as Arbiter. But Jinhsi is the one currently recognized as its Resonator, the human channel for Jué's authority over Jinzhou.
Cartethyia — Resonator of Imperator

Cartethyia serves as a blessed maiden who inherited the power of Imperator, the sole known Sentinel of Rinascita. The bond has passed through several hands before reaching her: Napoli II held it first, Fenrico later claimed it under the fraudulent title of "Enlightened One," and Cantarella was the properly chosen Resonator before she relinquished her powers back to Imperator and ceded the title to Cartethyia. Cartethyia is now recognized as the current Resonator of the merged Imperator and Leviathan, the one carrying that authority into the present story, though Imperator itself is already deceased by the time she holds the title.
Aemeath — Resonator of Lahai-Roi

Aemeath is bonded to Lahai-Roi, the Sentinel of the region carrying the same name. Lahai-Roi wasn't always a Sentinel: the region originally had none, and the closest thing it had was an Exostrider, one of the many mechanoid craft built to ferry Sentinels across space from the Homeland Civilization. This particular Exostrider was intercepted in space by Aleph-1 and, with Aemeath's help, sealed away the Threnodian — and only after those events, following the Version 3.3 main quest, was it upgraded to full Sentinel status and took the name Lahai-Roi. Aemeath's role is described as the Exostrider's Synchronist and Resonator, a title she holds alongside Rover's separate bond to it as Arbiter, connecting her directly to a Sentinel whose origin is closer to a machine than a deity.
Three Bonds, One Pattern
Jinhsi, Cartethyia, and Aemeath each answer to a different kind of Sentinel — a dragon, a fallen empire's guardian, and an ascended Exostrider — but the shape of their bond is the same: a human granted part of a Sentinel's power so it can act where the Sentinel itself cannot. As more of Solaris-3 opens up, it's likely this list of three won't stay complete for long.
